Syrian minister: Lieberman scorned by world
02.07.2010.16:36
Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal responded to threats made by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman against Damascus in an ongoing war of words between Israel and Syria.
On a tour of Quneitra in the Syrian Golan Heights, Bilal said Lieberman's remarks were "irresponsible, wild, and aggressive, and came from the mouth of a man whom the entire world scorns and whom no one receives".
Bilal added that Lieberman has proven "The aggressiveness of this entity (Israel)".
The minister also called "to try the officials of this entity in international court because they are harming regional peace and security, and thus harming global peace and security".
Governor of Quneitra Riad Hijab spoke in the same vein and said Lieberman's comments were "the declarations of an insane and foolish man", and that the Golan Heights would be returned to Syria "one day".
"Syria knows the way to the Golan and the president, Bashar Assad, will fly the flag over the Golan as President Hafez Assad flew the Syrian flag over Quneitra," Hijab said.
