I have shown you in every way

4 Jul 2008

"I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
(Acts 20:35)

I have shown you in every way

Dear brothers & sisters…

A Good Day's Work
For three days new immigrants came to select new clothes which were donated by our many supporters. Twenty three families came. We were able to provide many items of clothing and household goods. The young ladies attending university were happy and thankful for the help. Hand-knit sweaters from Switzerland were selected by the little children who came. Hand made quilts from America were also a big hit with the new immigrants. All were a joy to assist because they were so thankful.

The best part of all was the atmosphere in which they had found themselves. Luda had baked Russian pastries, somebody else made sugar cookies. We all spend time encourage them. Some of the people were very open, and wanted to know where all this material help had come from, and who we are.

Many people contributed to make this a success. We thank all of you who have given these items to us to bless the lives of these immigrants who have such a hard time making it here.

"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'" (Matthew 25:21)

The Difference
The things we have to give, and the encouraging words we say are simply ways of providing something deeper and more meaningful. If these people whom we are helping will return to their God, and seek after Him with their whole hearts, they will find Him – they will find life everlasting.

We were in a retirement home at the end of last week. The Lord blesses in simple ways. Simple visits make a difference in peoples' lives. Hannah, who had moved from Morocco, and even though she considers herself religious, has no idea what is written in the bible. One of our volunteers read to her in her language. Not only did she get to hear the Psalms, she had someone visit and show her God’s love in a personal way.

"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'" (Matthew 25:40)
